Homes and Apartments
Homeowners or renters policies may be relevant after trauma, blood contamination, unattended death, or certain property losses.
Insurance claims and payment assistance
Homeowners, renters, commercial, automobile, or other insurance policies may provide benefits for some biohazard-cleanup situations. Coverage depends on the policy, incident, exclusions, deductible, authorization, documentation, and the insurer’s final claim decision.
CSI: Clean Scene Investigators can provide service estimates, invoices, receipts, scope information, and appropriate documentation to help clients communicate with authorized insurance representatives.

How CSI can support the process
Available documentation depends on the project, service agreement, property conditions, insurer requests, privacy considerations, and information CSI is authorized to release.
A proposed scope and pricing summary may be provided after CSI gathers enough information to assess the project.
Clients may receive deposit invoices, progress invoices, final invoices, and payment receipts when applicable.
CSI can describe affected materials, completed services, removals, treatment, and other relevant project details.
CSI may communicate with an adjuster, agent, property manager, employer, estate contact, or another authorized representative.
General claim process
Do not delay an emergency response when waiting could create an additional safety or contamination concern. Ask your insurer how emergency mitigation should be documented.
Report the incident and ask whether cleanup or emergency mitigation may be covered under the policy.
Obtain the claim number, adjuster information, deductible, documentation requirements, and authorization instructions.
Share the property type, general situation, scene-release status, claim number, and authorized insurance contact when available.
Save estimates, invoices, receipts, claim correspondence, photographs, and written coverage decisions.
Questions to ask your insurer
Policy language and claim requirements vary. Ask for important decisions and instructions in writing whenever possible.
Payment responsibility
CSI must identify the authorized client, responsible party, billing contact, and payment arrangement before service begins.
The insured person may pay the deductible, uncovered balance, or full invoice depending on the claim decision.
An owner, landlord, estate, executor, or authorized family representative may be responsible for payment.
A business, property manager, fleet operator, hotel, or employer may authorize and pay for the service.
Direct payment may be possible only when approved and arranged by the responsible insurer or authorized party.
Important financial information
Unless a written agreement states otherwise, the CSI client remains responsible for deposits, deductibles, uncovered services, denied claims, excluded materials, and outstanding balances.

Insurance questions
Some policies may provide coverage depending on the incident, policy language, exclusions, deductible, and insurer decision. Contact the carrier directly to confirm.
The policyholder or authorized representative generally initiates the claim. CSI may provide service documentation and communicate with authorized claim contacts.
Ask the insurer about emergency mitigation requirements. In some cases, delaying necessary work could allow conditions to worsen.
Documentation may be available when appropriate, authorized, relevant to the service, and permitted by privacy and scene conditions.
The deductible is generally the policyholder’s responsibility, but the applicable policy and payment arrangement control.
The client remains responsible for payment according to the signed agreement and invoice terms unless another written payment arrangement has been approved.
Direct payment may be possible when the insurer approves it and the arrangement is confirmed. Do not assume direct payment without written authorization.
